Created by an alliance of community and neighborhood developers in early 2003, HomeFirst™ Certified Communities promotes prefab homes as a lifestyle choice. Thus far, only 12 Michigan prefab homes communities have received the HomeFirst™ certification. These are land-lease communities where you own your home, but the high cost of the land and all of the improvements (streets, utilities, etc.) are already paid for by the landlord.
